W.A.V.E. Club
Empowering students to champion sustainability and community care through hands-on learning, upcycling, and environmental advocacy.
Embarking on a meaningful journey of sustainability, students find an empowering space in the Waterway Advocates for the Environment (W.A.V.E.) Club to explore green issues and become passionate eco-advocates. The path is packed with hands-on discovery, from school gardening and farm learning journeys to upcycling recycled items into thoughtful gifts for community beneficiaries. By leading school-wide awareness weeks and wildlife conservation programs, members naturally develop the inventive thinking, empathy, and leadership skills needed to champion a sustainable future.
Now in its second year, the Waterway Advocates for the Environment (W.A.V.E.) Club empowers students to explore sustainability issues and become advocates for the environment.
Through a year-long programme built around four recurring themes — Celebrating Biodiversity, Protecting Waterways, Upcycling, and Zero Waste — students learn through gardening, biodiversity trails, and learning journeys to farms and local social enterprises that champion sustainability. These experiences help them develop a deeper appreciation of the environment and the role they can play in caring for it.
Beyond learning, students cultivate a benefit mindset by upcycling recycled materials into useful products for different beneficiaries, showing how sustainability efforts can also positively impact the community. Selected students also participate in the Mandai Action for Wildlife programme, while members further their advocacy through a school-based Biodiversity Celebration Week that raises awareness of the importance of protecting biodiversity.
